What this is. The Furry Mortals Compass ("the Compass") is a free, personal-use tool designed to help pet parents assess and track the quality of life of a senior or ill companion animal. It is a stewardship aid — not a veterinary diagnostic tool, not a substitute for professional medical advice, and not a clinical service of any kind.
What it is not. Nothing in the Compass constitutes veterinary, medical, psychological, or legal advice. All information is provided for general educational and emotional support purposes only. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical decisions regarding your pet's health and care.
Who may use it. The Compass is intended for adults (18+) using it for personal, non-commercial purposes. By using this application, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age.
Your responsibility. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter. The Compass reflects what you input — it cannot diagnose, predict, or guarantee any outcome for your pet.
Availability. We make every effort to keep the Compass available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the service at any time without prior notice.
Intellectual property. All content, frameworks, copy, and design within the Compass are the intellectual property of Angela Human / Furry Mortals: The Oliver Project © 2026. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialize any portion of this tool without written permission.
What we collect. If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your actual password). All data you enter — your pet's name, assessment scores, journal entries, medications, and snapshots — is stored on our server solely to provide the sync feature.
How it's stored. Your data is stored in a private database on our server. Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard bcrypt hashing. No sensitive personal information beyond your email address is required to use the service.
Local storage. If you use the Compass without creating an account, all data is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) on your device only. It never leaves your device and we have no access to it.
Cookies. The Compass does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. A session token is stored in your browser's localStorage solely to keep you signed in between visits.
Third parties. We use Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) to load typography. Google may log font requests per their own privacy policy. No other third-party services are embedded in this application.
Your rights. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Upon request, all data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
Children. The Compass is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes. If we materially change this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the Compass after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
The Furry Mortals Compass is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Angela Human and Furry Mortals: The Oliver Project shall not be liable for any decisions made, actions taken, or outcomes experienced as a result of using this tool.
The emotional frameworks, guides, and assessment tools within this application are based on personal experience, publicly available research, and the author's own journey. They are not clinical instruments and have not been validated in a clinical setting.
